Good Morning, Traders!…👋
U.S. stock futures climbed sharply Monday after officials confirmed that the U.S. and China had agreed to slash most tariffs for 90 days while further negotiations continue. The early surge builds on momentum from the weekend, when the U.S. reported “substantial progress” in trade talks — fueling optimism of a meaningful de-escalation between the world’s top two economies.
Markets gained further ground after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that both sides had reached a deal to pause and reduce tit-for-tat tariffs by 115% over the 90-day period.
Traders now turn their focus to key inflation readings this week, with April’s Consumer Price Index due Tuesday, followed by retail sales and the Producer Price Index on Thursday.
