Good Morning, Traders!…👋

U.S. stock index futures rallied Tuesday after President Donald Trump walked back his threat to impose steep tariffs on European Union imports, calming tensions between Washington and Brussels as traders returned from the Memorial Day holiday.

Trump confirmed Sunday that he would delay the proposed 50% tariff until July 9, allowing more time for negotiations with the 27-nation bloc. This reversed Friday’s announcement, where the president said tariffs could take effect as soon as June 1 due to stalled talks.

Markets are also eyeing a packed economic calendar. The May consumer confidence report is due shortly after the opening bell Tuesday. Later in the week, investors will digest the Fed’s latest meeting minutes, a second estimate of Q1 GDP, and Friday’s release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index—the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge.

Several Fed officials are slated to speak this week. On Tuesday, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari said rates should remain unchanged until the economic impact of higher tariffs becomes clearer.

Earnings Watch

Earnings roll out today from PDD Holdings $PDD, AutoZone $AZO, and Bank of Nova Scotia $BNS before open, plus Okta $OKTA and HEICO $HEI after close.

Analysts expect PDD to post $2.61 EPS with e-commerce strength, AZO to hit $37.11 EPS on auto parts demand, BNS at $1.14 EPS, OKTA at $0.78 EPS with cybersecurity growth, and HEI at $0.98 EPS.
