Good Morning, Traders!…👋
U.S. stocks appear set for a rebound following Monday’s steep sell-off, which saw the S&P 500 drop 2.4%. Futures tied to the benchmark were up 1% early Tuesday, with major tech names bouncing back in premarket action after a tough previous session.
Despite the early optimism, investor caution remains elevated. Traditional safe-haven assets like gold and the Japanese yen gained ground. Gold soared past $3,500 a troy ounce, hitting a record intraday high as uncertainty swirled around escalating trade tensions and political pressure on the Federal Reserve.
Market jitters intensified Monday as President Trump doubled down on his criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell and reiterated his call for rate cuts. The turmoil sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average toward its worst April performance since 1932.
