Good Morning, Traders!…👋
Stock futures dropped sharply after President Trump revealed a larger-than-expected tariff package, raising concerns that the new tariffs will hinder economic growth and fuel inflation.
Trump announced a 10% baseline tariff on imports from most countries, along with harsher reciprocal levies on certain nations — including a 34% tariff on China, an additional 20% rate on goods from the European Union, and 24% on goods from Japan.
U.S. technology stocks are taking a hit following the tariff announcement. Apple, which manufactures most of its iPhones in China, saw a 6.7% drop, Amazon declined 4.9%, Meta Platforms fell 2.8%, and Tesla was down 3.3%.
Investors will be keeping an eye on key economic data set to be released this week, including the International Trade report for February, Weekly Jobless Claims, and the U.S. ISM Report on Business Services PMI for March.
