Good Morning, Traders!…👋
U.S. stock futures pointed to a higher open after President Donald Trump carved out an exemption for smartphones, computers, and other devices, including semiconductors, from the additional 125% tariffs imposed on all Chinese goods.
However, there remains uncertainty regarding the tariffs. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick mentioned in an interview on Sunday that separate tariffs on these products are “coming soon,” clarifying that "this is not a permanent exemption."
As of 5:45 a.m. ET, blue-chip Dow futures were up 0.84%, broad S&P 500 futures jumped 1.11%, and tech-heavy Nasdaq futures rose 1.25%.
