Tariffs now apply to imports from nearly 200 countries, with rates ranging from 10% to 50%, boosting the average tariff rate to 18.3%.

During a press briefing, the president revealed plans to eventually impose a 100% tariff on semiconductors. However, companies like Apple that invest in US manufacturing will be exempt. In earnings news, DoorDash shares jumped premarket on strong outlooks, while Airbnb and Lyft shares slipped after disappointing forecasts.

Investors are also eyeing upcoming weekly jobless claims data, as concerns about the labor market grow following a weak July jobs report and downward revisions for May and June. The combination of trade tensions and economic signals continues to keep Wall Street on alert.
