Good Morning, Traders!…👋
U.S. stock futures edged higher on Friday as investors celebrated fresh economic strength that pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to new all-time highs.
Thursday’s rally saw the tech-heavy indexes continue their record-breaking momentum, fueled by stronger-than-expected retail sales and a decline in jobless claims—signs that the U.S. consumer remains resilient despite ongoing tariff pressures from President Trump’s trade agenda.
Markets are on track to close the week with solid gains. Much of the noise around Trump’s recent criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell has faded, especially after Powell responded with a letter defending the Federal Reserve’s renovation plans.
Still, speculation is mounting over who might succeed Powell next year, as Wall Street braces for the possibility of a new Fed leader who must strike a balance between satisfying political demands and preserving the central bank’s independence.
